Our Roots
Under the Oak Tree is a countryside gift shop, based on our smallholding in Norfolk.
Everything you’ll find here is shaped by real life - the animals, the land, the weather, and the constant rhythm of days that rarely go to plan.
We design and make our own collections in the old stables beside our farmhouse, alongside a carefully chosen range of pieces that sit naturally within this world.
Nothing is added for the sake of it.
Everything belongs.
Everything begins with drawing.
Most days start with a sketch - something noticed, something observed, often one of the animals going about their day.
From there, it moves into paint, into paper, into story. The animals are at the centre of it all. Their personalities, their habits, their small, ordinary moments - these are what shape the work.
Some become illustrations. Some become products. Watching the ducks march across the paddock turned in to a greeting card.
Some moments quietly turn into stories waiting for a bookshop to open its doors to my collection of beautiful folk stories.
This is not a studio set apart from life - it is part of it.
Work happens around animals being fed, gates being fixed, sheep being sheared, goats having their toe nails trimmed.. weather turning, and the constant movement of a working smallholding.
That closeness shapes everything - quietly, but completely. We live and breath the rural farm life and love every minute.
All of our products are made in-house.
We design, print, cut and finish ourselves using our own professional equipment. Working this way allows us to oversee every stage - taking the time to refine, adjust and improve where needed.
Some gifts and items are made by other artisans - we will always label their brand on the product.
These are our roots. They are real. And everything we do grows from here.
Giving Back
The landscapes that shape our work matter deeply to us.
Each year, we set aside a portion of our income to support organisations that protect woodland and wildlife - including The Woodland Trust and The Wildlife Trusts.
It’s a small way of giving back to the places that continue to inspire what we do.
And so the story continues.
Shaped by place, by time and by the quiet presence of the oak tree.
